Not only corporate skyscrapers and historical landmarks want to reach for the stars, hotels are no exception either. Below are the world’s top 5 tallest high-rise buildings designed to provide various hotel services and amenities:
Topping the list is the Rose Tower Hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Standing at a height of 333 meters (1,093 feet), this 72-story skyscraper began its construction 2004. It is expected to open in April of 2008.
Second on the list is the pyramid-shaped hotel Ryugyong Hotel or Ryu-Gyong Hotel at a height of 330 meters (1,083 feet). It has 105 stories and an area of 3.9 million square feet. Its construction started in 1987 but stopped in 1992 due to lack of funding, severe electricity shortages, and the existing famine during that time. Originally, it planned of 3,000 rooms and 7 revolving restaurants. The basic construction is complete but no windows, furniture, or fittings have been set up. Most importantly, it has never been declared safe for occupancy.
Making it to the third spot is the magnificent Burj Al Arab also in Dubai. It stands at 321 meters (1,053) and formerly holds the record for the tallest hotel in the world. It construction started in 1994 and finished in 1999. It has 202 suites; each one is set over 2 floors. Another fascinating fact about this hotel is its external lighting schemes. It changes every 30 minutes from white light to a multi-colored one to signify the evening’s progress.
On the fourth place is the Jumeirah Emirates Tower Hotel in Dubai rising at 309 meters (1,014 feet) with 56 floors. They do have a lot of giant hotels in Dubai. The Emirates hotel was finished on April 15, 2000. It boasts of its Chopard Ladies Floor, a floor entirely exclusively dedicated to the privacy and soothe of their women visitors. If women have their own haven, the men too. The Male Spa H2O is a distinctive modern metropolitan life spa intended for male occupants who need state-of-the-art relaxation and leisure.
Completing the Top 5 list is Baiyoke Sky Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. After its completion in 1997, it became the tallest building in Thailand and Southeast Asia. At a height of 304 meters (997 ft), this tower has 88 floors and advantageously situated at the heart of downtown. It only takes a little walk from the hotel to major shopping areas such as Gaysorn Plaza, Central World Plaza, Siam Square and Peninsula.
