Behind the most celebrated and historical hotels are stories as well. Believe it or not, you might be surprised that the bed you are sleeping right now could be the same bed that an important and powerful man sleeps on when he visits the hotel.
There are hotels that are well-known because of their original meal or beverage. Raffles Hotel invented the world famous “Singapore Sling”. It was built in 1887, and remains as the most historic and magnificent hotel in Singapore. After a renovation, it has been labeled among the world’s most lavish hotels. Suites are adorned with attractive furnishings, oriental carpets, and marble or teak flooring.
On the other hand, Waldorf Astoria in New York City popularized the so called “Waldorf Salad”. Since its opening in 1931, has been host to international dignitaries, presidents, and Hollywood stars. Situated in East Midtown Manhattan and occupying an entire block on the prominent Park Avenue, it is considered as one of the original luxurious hotels.
Other hotels became known because of popular movies. Grand Hotel is situated at the heart of St. Petersburg, Russia. It became the first Russian 5-star hotel to be recognized as a part of the Leading Hotels of the World. It started its operation in 1824 and reopened in 1991 after an extensive restoration. The building itself has been categorized as a national and cultural landmark. Aside from those amazing facts, the man himself James Bond stayed there in the movie “Goldeneye”.
During Cannes Film Festival, Cannes hotels like Carlton Intercontinental and Hotel Martinez happen to be the center of the world. Carlton Intercontinental was constructed in 1911 and located near the beach of La Croisette. Its famous restaurants are The Carlton Beach Restaurant, The Petit Bar, The Brasserie Carlton, Bar des Celebrities & Terrasse Bar and La Cote.

The Relexa Cecilienhof Schloss is celebrated when it was chosen as a venue when superpower allies Harry Truman, Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin negotiated the Potsdam Agreement in the summer of 1945.
